(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Now... 2 years later, this community has gone to hell. weve had a thousand guys go with this and we act like the sky is falling becuase weve had some cars pop. many of those, modded well beyond that..... and god knows the conditions they "maintained" their vehicles under. bullshit... im sick of answering questions from people asking why the hell our car is so unsafe. it isnt. if you want to make 270-280whp with a little tuning, dp, intake, maybe a bpv, ic and a fuel pump.... there should be NO worry. the number of people who have a problem are ridiculously low to be individually concerned. mod your car, manage your car, maintain your car, enjoy your car.... im sick of the discussions on this board. many of us are driving this car in exactly this form with no apparent issues, and all i see is fear. ridiculous.... that is all. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have CAI, TMIC, SB 2.0, 3" Cat Back... No DP the fines are too big in CA. I have never had worries about blowing. I agree this fear of modding is getting to be a bit much. Most of the basic mods increase efficiency and serve no harm to the engine.

| Ive tested 100s of Cobb maps and beat the shit out of my car which is a full stage 2. i change my oil, check my plugs and i dont worry about the car blowing up. 35,000 miles and still ticking...

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score ive sold power mods to hundreds of guys over the last 8 months, and i could count the number of guys who have blown on one hand. if i eliminated the dudes with big turbos i can think of 1-2. stick with the basic recipes. follow maintenance rules of thumb and fix what the hell is wrong. monitor your car. if your shit is broke, or aint running right... fix it. thats my advice. |

and if you install something cockeyed and the car doesnt run right. lift the hood and fix it. dont go race it. maybe even demod before you add the next. the guys who continue to mod cars that are obviously unhappy... are the ones who are gonna run into the worst problems. every car is different, and reacts slightly different to the same setups. be proactive and reactive..... and all this motor blowing stuff becomes nonsense. the whole concept of focusing your modding to "fix our flawed motors".... is fucking ridiculous. mod it, then tune it, and stop to make it run right if starts to act up. simple as that. and once you change the turbo and start making in excess of 300whp.... then things start to get exponentially riskier..... below that its horseshit that you have anything to worry about. | |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score intercooler, fuel pump, and tuning device. those three things will double the gains youve seen so far, and leave the car just as safe in the process. then... you can be done for awhile. turbo is the next step and thats a whole new ballgame. |

15 psi to 18 psi with a tune that holds out throttle makes a world of difference for power. fuck... get a mbc for all i care... but dont tell me tuning doesnt make power if it includes raising boost on a turbo car. | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score fully bolted for 10k running 20psi all day long and haven't looked back. have done all the percautions and beat the hell out of my car. love the car for what it's worth! if you glue your eyes to a monitoring device your in the wrong car. obviously you bought the car for it's power or else you would have bought a mazda 3. ?? confused to this because if you tune you can richen up and add some boost to it. on a completly stock car with just the sb you could easily pick up anywhere from 15-20whp if done right. i've had great results using the sb and the ability to be able to dial in my car. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score intake, downpipe, bpv, standback here and im content and happy knowing that ive got great gains with these parts and im not risking reliability too much as long as i keep up proper maintenance. i rarely overboost with the standback, but if i wanna get a quick 20 hp ive got it on a switch in my cabin for racing/fucking around. i didnt buy this car to break records, this is a fun ass street car/setup and thats all its gonna be to me until maybe well after i pay it off.....

I do agree with the original OP. A handful under god knows what conditions doesn't make me shit my pants. I leave that for diarrhea. What about a reworked turbo that PG is offering? I was considering one of those instead of a bigger turbo. | |

They jump on and off the bandwagon quickly when things go good or bad. They don't put too much thought into what's going on and why, and are generally quick to point the finger at other people or the parts that they bought when things don't go their way. |
