(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Hey, I'm trying to decide on which FMIC to purchase for my Axela. I'm on about a $900 budget and i currently have a greddy type-S bov and an HKS racing suction intake. Any advice would be greatly appreciated cuz i don't want to get something thats crap and won't allow use of my current mods. Thanks in advance. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score pardon my ignorance but is axela another name for ms3/ "axela" mps. if its an axela and not a mps you would need to make something custom.. if not i say the cobb looks like the best quality piece. save two or three hundred more and get that.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Boooo... FMIC FTW... Cobb, CPE seem to have the best options in no particular order.. Think about what you want to be down the road, so you dont run into fitment issues.

| Not Ranked : 0 score whats wrong with a TMIC. It's sits on top of the motor? So what its still flowing the same if not more air and it's getting through the intercooler quicker. Yea, you get heat soak if you sit and idle but as soon as you start driving it cools down. I just rather be safe and go with tmic.

| Not Ranked : 0 score if your going to get an aftermarket intercooler, look at what you want to do. if your getting a DP, your already looking at things your going to want/need. i wouldnt run a dp w/o fuel pump. if your just going to get a race pipe or something, ya a tmic will be fine. if your ever going to try to make any power out of your car save yourself some cash and buy a FMIC right off the bat. as far as brands... cpe or cobb choose your poison. last time i said anything about the other brands people wined so im not saying anything besides do some research (cpe and cobb researched their development, did others? )

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score yeah, i thought about the TMIC becuase it's cheaper, but it just seems like the FMIC would be more efficient at providing a cooler charge. And it looks better i think. But i really want the best bolt on for the most horsepower right now. This isn't my first car and i know you should alwayz start with intake and exhaust bolt ons....even more so with this car from what i've read. Has anyone installed the TurboXS downpipe/racepipe, or the COBB one. I'm curious on the power gains, and difficulty of install. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I raced every speed in tampa this weekend and beat them all. I have stock TMIC, why upgrade to a FMIC? IDK I guess I just dont see the reasoning behind it other than a front mount has more surface area to allow more cooling.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score so would you sugest keeping the TMIC and replacing the racepipe/downpipe....i've already upgraded the BOV and intake, and from what i've read, it sounds like the stock exhuast downpipe and catpipe are VERY restrictive... |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I agree that a downpipe and fuel pump/pump internals should be your next install. I can supply both of those for a great price.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score yeah i'm definately going with the downpipe/racepipe setup, from the research i've done its shown about a 40whp gain by replacing both. However i haven't seen to much about having to upgrade the fuelpump. IF i don't upgrade the fuelpump will the car run Lean. How bad are we talking here? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Don't you mean air over water? Yes, this is a good option for drag cars or cars that are driven in consistently HOT climates (desert etc.) However, for daily drivers in mixed climates, there is too much too much work involved to have it on a daily driver. Things like leaky cores/frozen cores are common in colder climates (in Chicago, we have a daytime temp of 45-50 and then bam 17 degrees-FUCK WINTER.) If you run distilled water the cooling is great, but it WILL freeze and then you have a problem. Running coolant is an option, but to realize the full benefit from the heat capacity of water, you have to run distilled, and purging the system day to day such as in my climate is a HUGE pain in the ass. FMIC/TMIC is a good, low hassle option, that in combination with meth can generate ambient or below ambient boost temps. -Jeff at PG
