Default Looking at a car that had overboost issues

I'm in the market for a speed6 and I have been talking to a dealer about one they had for a bit. They just got it and noticed an issue with it on the first test drive they had on it (not by me). Originally they said it was misfiring, now they are saying it was overboosting due to a boost control solenoid wire. Exactly how bad is this? The listing says 100% stock and in the pictures it looks stock as well. I'm assuming a compression test is a must. Pretty surprised they told me it wasn't a misfire as overboosting seems worse to me.

Not sure why a dealer would sell a car with a boost or misfire issue. I assume no warranty and they must have cut the price in half.....

Misfires most of the time aren't bad, but makes you wonder why they didn't fix it if all it took was plugs, coil stretch, etc.

Overboosting could be critical. I would assume in stock form that would lead to bent rods or vented block or ringland failure. All depends on how long, what ambient temperatures, etc. Why didn't they just fix the wire?

I should have cleared that up, they did fix it.

As long as compression comes out ok it should be fine, but sounds like it may have other hidden issues.

Thanks for the replies! I test drove it and everything seemed fine but they wouldn't come down on price hardly so I'm still looking. Probably for the best as they got it at an auction. First time behind the wheel of one though, definitely have the bug now!
