Yeah plus the company is pretty legit even for ebay standards you can build a pretty disgusting bolt on WRX with one of their turbos. Someone on here has one. You should be the first guinea pig and let us know how they work. As long as the thread pitch is right how can there be an issue.

If you read in the bnoon bolt thread, the bolt is not drilled to the same specs he recommended.

I've had that bolt since ~60k and I have 96k now.
It fixed my smoke, and it was bad.

Edit:ninja'd by @Raider; but it doesn't matter because he has no first hand experience :p

All these bolts do is restrict oil flow to the turbo which I certainly can't see helping your turbo's lifespan. It's just a smoke band-aid, no?

At idle there is too much oil pressure inside the turbo so the seals cant handle that and oil starts to seep past and ends up in the exhaust = smoke. One of the fixes is to decrease the amount of oil going in = less pressure. Band aid, maby. But its a lot better than getting oil onto your cats. They may clog up and increase the pressure on the exhaust side... worst case scenario is engine damage

The turbo CHRA should never have pressure in it.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The bolt is like $13 and it appears to be a regular banjo bolt. The hole is significantly smaller than the passage on a BNOON bolt. If I remember, I will try and take a picture of them side by side on friday.

If the hole is too small that it may starve the turbo then i can just drill it out to the correct size of the bnoon bolt.

Probly do that(bore to bnoon size) when i get it, before install. Just to be safe.

Himurax. Has see my bolt.I bought one of these.the restrictor is exactly the same as bnoon bolt.onot difference is this bolt has the restrictor on the side. Side by side with the bnoon this bolt looks like something made in a factory. The holes don't even look like home drilled type.it's a true banjo bolt.if anyone needs pics let me know and I'll use my dslr

Then your smoke probably mighnt not be coming from leaky turbo exhaust seals. Do you have any blowby pre turbo?

I have this bolt and I too did a LOT of research before buying this exact same bolt about 4 months ago. Since then I DID have to replace my turbo anyways but I am still using this bolt today.

As far as the bolt size goes, Bnoon mentions in his thread about the size: "I found out after much begging and pleading that .060" is recommended minimum size per 2 rebuild shops that specialize in rebuilt KKK turbos." The ebay bolt when converted is .059" - close enough for me.

Someone in the thread mentioned what is the worst that can happen from the smoking turbo, aside from losing a quart of oil every couple hundred miles (luckily I was checking like a hawk and kept on top of that while I tried to figure a solution, well the car DEMANDED my attention with this.... My seals really BLEW.

I came out to my car with a nice little oil puddle under my turbo...my seals had blown so completely I didn't have a choice but to replace the turbo. Towed the car to the dealer and had it replaced. Sucked. But the bolt is still in use now - who knows maybe it will help prevent any future issues. I have no complaints with the ebay bolt mentioned in this thread. Working great as far as I can tell and I will be rebuilding my old k04 soon.

@Lex, what are your thoughts on this bolt and smoking turbos over the long run?

10 thousandths of an inch too small as recommended by several rebuilders of these turbos FYI. If you buy an Ebay bolt, ream it out to something closer to .0600 (MINIMUM) to .0625 area. My bolts were drilled slightly larger than the minimum size and hand reamed to remove any burrs.

Good job on the writeup @speedrebirth!!!
