Bose soundsystem>>>Thoughts?

i am not impressed with the bose system. they really are letting me down i feel. there is no settings besides base and treb. there should be ATLEAST a mid. any comments, thoughts, am i out of my mind? suggestions?

Bose Blose in general, in all they do, besides marketing.
System shits the bed, but it's still the best factory system I've owned. I have amps and speakers from my last car, but I need to build a custom enclosure for my sub so I can still fit my kid's stroller in the trunk.

Its not that bad, it sounds good for what it is. Remember the CX-7 is not a "luxury" car so if you take that into account it sound good, nothing like my Lexus but that is where the price difference is.

Yes, you can get better systems from the aftermarket. If you want to pay for it you can get it. Like the limited I Pod interface. Not great but it works for me.

For you young guns who have to compete with other young guys in speaker wars you will want to upgrade...

I have the Bose system in my new '11 CX-7, and I think it sounds great for a factory system. Yes, I've done more/better aftermarket, but for a factory stereo, it's pretty darn impressive. It is, though, heavily dependent on the source. The better the recording and source, the better it sounds. I have some cds that sound phenomenal, and some that are just okay...it totally depends on the mastering.

SIRIUS sounds like crap, but that's a compression issue on their end. My iPod sounds great (as long as the files were stored above 192 k.)

...and just to address the inevitable question: I am the farthest thing possible from a Bose fanboy. In general, I think their products are grossly overpriced and sound like garbage, but surprisingly enough this system sounds pretty good to me, and is a VAST improvement over the step down factory system

In my old 6 nowhere near enough base,now it has way too much.Much clearer mids would be a huge help.This is at mid-high to high volume ,it's OK at more normal levels.

The system in the CX-7 is completely different from the system in the Mazdaspeed 3 or Mazdaspeed 6, or any Mazda 3/6

Realize that before making snap judgements. The CX-7 system actually has some bass, all up at the front of the cabin with the two bass woofers in the door. The CX-9 system has the same and an extra bass module in the back.

If you knew anything about how they run their business you would know that 1 product can sound completely different from the other because they have no sound signature (so, you can't judge one system they make and say they all are good or suck because they all sound different) and that most of their stuff sounds fine, it's just priced 1.5x-2x more than it's worth

Considering the OP didn't mention what he drives, I think any feedback here would be relevant.

With all due respect, your posts are usually of much higher quality.

I am not a Bose fanboy, but the above (blanket) statements are just plain wrong.

Do some products have serious shortcomings? Yes, absolutely.

But to say "their shit just plain sucks" is seriously inaccurate. They spend a very significant portion of revenue on R&D. Their products have never been intended for so-called "audiophiles" and most likely never will be.

Compare apples to apples: the Bose sound system in the 2010+ MS3 is hands-down one of the best "factory" sound systems in any $25k car currently on the market.

I had to come down a level or two to compensate for the topic at hand.
I'm a bit of an audiophile myself.
I'd often rather have the stereo in my car off and listen to my kids fight in the back seat, than listen to the shit that comes through it.
Bose or not, it's awful.
As are "most" factory stereos. In any car. Let alone this segment.
Bose just seems to lend its name to more of the awful, than the mediocre.

It is still way better than another "Factory System" I have had in any of my cars/trucks in over 39 years of owning cars. It is way better than the top system that is in my Subaru turbo.

Yes I have installed better systems. But that is a whole different game.

It is what it is. If you did not like the Bose system, you should have bought a car without it and saved that cash and spent it on after market stuff.

the Bose system is ok. I removed the sub and left the stock amp for the for speakers. then added a separate amp and a 12" alpine sub. it sounds roughly 1,000,003 times better.

I did a write up on installing an aftermarket sub/amp combo. Price was pretty good as I already had an amp and sub available and the cables and line-in converter were under $100 combined. But for a factory system, the Bose one sounds great. Add some low end that enables you to lower the bass adjustment on the dash and you have a great sounding, loud as you wanna system. I can tell you the factory system that came in my current ride is no where near the same quality and it has two subs under the seats. On this car, I am seriously contemplating professional help...

I will say for a factory system, be it Bose or not, its pretty good. My brother has a top of the line MDX 2010 and he even says mine puts out more bass than his. It puts out a healthy dosing of bass I think, and I'm a bass fanatic. Would I like more??? Shit yeah. I do have a question for other Bose owners: the rear passenger speakers, are they putting out bass? Cause mine ain't. Don't even think they are putting out mids if you put your sound to only come out the rear let me know you get. I'm just dumbfounded as to why didn't Bose put some bass there too, cause that would definitely put this system over the top.....maybe I will find a way to do that.......

OP do you have a genpu? For any of the guys running a genpu tech. The sounds doesn't sound that bad when running an iPhone/iPod through blutooth. Just go to the settings in your phone/iPod and change the equalizer settings. There's def. a noticeable difference in bass/treble etc. depending on which of the presets you choose. Just my 0.2

I have a 07 cx7 with bose and navigation the front doors need replace what size and what have you guys have gone with. Going on a 18 hr drive in 3 weeks need it don't before I got crazy.

I want to change out my stock sound system, what are the speaker sizes? BOSE? First, the base 4 speaker sound system has 4 6x8/5x7 speakers. BOSE however has 2 9" Bass drivers in the front door, 5 3 1/2" Mid/High range drivers in the dash and D-Pillar, and 2 6 1/2" mid-range drivers in the rear doors. In order to replace the headunit on BOSE models you need the MAZATO from PAC. The BOSE amplifier is located behind the 2nd row of seats in between it and the spare tire.

My Bose Quiet Comfort 15's are fucking awesome for noise canceling. That is about it. And the Bose in my MSM is better for kids and highs than in my speed 3.
