(Thread Starter) |   Not Ranked : 0 score  Oil leak. Please help I have a 2005 MX-5(miata) 1.8. For a while now I have had a small oil leak The problem is nobody cAN NAIL the source. It has been to my local mechanic and a mazda main dealer. Both suspected the rocker cover gasket but 2 new ones and still the problem. The oil is trickling down from the top of the engine at the front and onto the sump then obviously the tray. I can trace the oil up as far as the main block at the very front of the engine there a black plastic covering that is connected with the rocker cover gasket behind this there is moisture(oil) What is this black cover hiding and is it oil filled. I'm subject to driving around in the Mrs honda cars at the moment. Cheers Diolch Matt |

| Not Ranked : 0 score So, have you traced the leak to the source? or just where the majority of the oil seems to be coming from? Whenever I have a pesky oil leak I can't seem to nail I use a fluorescent dye in the oil (and a black light) to figure out where exactly it is coming from.
