(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score You said Harness? Ok folks, after 2+ years, I think it's time for some harness on that sparco seat. Any recommendation on the 4 point vs. 6 point? Is it a good idea to get a 4 point harness for now, little bit cheaper and later down the road extend it to a 6 point harness? Also I'll like to hear your recommendation with respect to the brand/quality/durability. Now the other part that worries is is the harness bar. I know a lot of folks had tried different solution. I'll really like to hear the DO and DON'T. FYI: the car will be primarily used for track purpose and off course auto-x as here and there. Many Thanks

| Not Ranked : 0 score If you are going to run in any NASA or SCCA Track events, you need a 5 or 6 point Harness. I run a 6 point Safe Craft Harness.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score @MOCO MS3 Thanks for the first feedback. Also Since I haven't made my mind about the cage, I'm wondering what harness bar solution is available for the speed3 platform. That will be the big headache after getting the harness and I want to be ahead of that game... Thanks Yall for the inputs

| Not Ranked : 0 score If you do go with 4 points temporary, Scroth has one that is DOT approved and allows some torso movement in a crash. Double check mounting measurements/locations as well. Last thing you want is to damage your spine because of incorrect install. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Check with cipher auto for a harness bar. I have a harness bar in mine and I run a 4 point since it is just for a local autocross club that is not sanctioned with the scca. I would run a 6 point and not cheap out on harnesses. I would recommend takata if you have alot of money, sparco, schroth or impact racing just to name a few.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The autopower is rock solid and it will stiffen up your chasis alot. The harness bar matches up at a perfect height for the harnesses. I have the 4 point DOT scroths and they are really nice but 6 point is def a better option. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

| Not Ranked : 0 score For the 6 you can use a NRG harness bar for the regular 6. Fits right in. Got that setup in mine. I need to upgrade to a 6 point real harness at some point. I am just running the 4 point cipher harness' which are really just glorified seat belts. Still work good enough for local auto-x though.

| Not Ranked : 0 score 4 points are probably fine for the occasional autocrosser or road racer, but not having that 5th/6th harness sucks (edit: or for someone who is cheap and/or cares about not adding weight...like me). A 4 point can't be tightened like a 5/6 point, because the shoulder belts will pull the lap belts upward off of your hips. The sub belt prevents that from happening. I put a 4 point in the 6 for this past weekend and that was my first thought. I'm strapped in WAY tighter in the formula car with a 6 point harness. Not to mention the wider straps are a little more comfortable (to me).

| Not Ranked : 0 score Worlds better than OEM, yes. The 6 has wider seats than the 3, so we really needed something better to hold us in place. I'm using the Schroth Rallye Cross belt that I was loaned. More than likely, I'll buy one this winter. I'm thinking the Rallye 4, since it's slightly safer in the case of a wreck and they have the quick disconnect.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I agree with phate. The tighter the 4point gets the more it climbs up your body. Im guessing the theory behind the scroth rally safe 4 point is that the extra sewn area near the buckle will give away llpwimg your weight to transfer forward over the lap belt which will prevent submarining. I like that it is DOT approved so if a cop wants to harass you over it at least you can show him that it's legal. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

| Not Ranked : 0 score We've only used the harness for autocross. We just tuck it behind the seat for normal driving. Probably what I'll do even if I get the DOT approved belt. I really don't like the idea of using one on the street.

| Not Ranked : 0 score That's exactly what I do with my Rallye 4. Disconnect it, the back goes under the rear seat and the rest under the front seat. It is DOT certified but there is no reason to use it on the street. |

Looking good and clean.....

| Not Ranked : 0 score Its the Autopower roll race bar. It's a bolt in half cage. It has another cross bar that goes diagonal across the hoop. I need to paint it since I recieved it seperately. The company is pretty awesome because the cross bar I recieved was smashed by a forklift (somehow.. this metal is heavy as hell) during shipping. I signed for it without inspecting like a moron. I called Autopower and he said mail back the damaged bar and he would make me a new one. The only reason I had to mail it back was so he could lineup the holes from the other bar. I recieved it a week and a half later and fitment was perfect. Install was kinda tough. Def a 2 man job. To attach it you drill holes in the floorboard and use the provided sandwich plate to snug up the bolts. You have to cut the plastics a little. The floorboard in the backseat is the same way. It was pretty straightforward because once you get it in everything lines right up. It mounts pretty much only one way and there is very little room for error. I bought this setup off of vivid racing and they took like $75 off the price if you call them and ask them to do better on the price. Freight was like $150 if I remember correctly. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

| Not Ranked : 0 score If you're ever going to drive on the street, uninstall the harness bar and 4-point (shudder) and use your stock belt. The damage that can be caused to your neck/back with a harness bar and no cage in an accident is terrifying. The top will cave in on you and you have nowhere to go like you would with a regular (folding) seat. I'm sure you've read up on all of this, but to re-emphasize for anybody considering this... harness bar + no rollover cage + harness + street driving (track accidents apply too) = a SERIOUS no go. Also, 4-point is very dangerous in its own right. Always save up for the 5/6 point to eliminate the risk of sliding under the lap belt in case of an accident resulting in the sudden reduction of motion. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score No harness bar - they weigh too much! I have the harness attached to the rear seatbelt mount bolts. The schroth harnesses are designed to work with these so you don't need a bar. Also why I would never run these on the street. The chances of me wrecking at autocross are really slim, so I'm not too worried about it.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Definitely can, but not likely. We have a HUGE concrete pad that we autocross on, and one side is connected to a grassy area. There's a small dirt step into the grass that 99% of the time doesn't matter one bit. A focus got loose and went sideways into it and nailed it almost exactly sideways to where both tires hit the dirt at the same time and they rolled it, hahahaha. Everyone was fine. They rolled it back over, swapped on a spare or two, and drove away in it.
