(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I ordered two NT-01's to see if they will work for me. Does anyone have any experience with NT-01's on speed3's that are over 400hp? Im sick of asking people for 50-60 rolls... hahahaah running 18x8's with 235/40's. I know most of you will say wider tires/rims... but thats not an option right now. I would have radials and or slicks if I had the money.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The NT01s will work well when hot. When cold they won't be much different than the NT05s. Besides that, they're fairly expensive tires and won't last long at all. When wet, also get ready for some fun.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Yeah. Not really much you can do. Even if you had the NT05 drag radials you'd want to heat them up before a run. There is just only so much you can do with FWD. A multiple clutch plate type LSD such as the OS gicken LSD would do a better job but that's a lot of money. That's what I am doing once I get a new clutch and swap the tranny.

| Not Ranked : 0 score OP - I also run NT-05's. Good summer tire but even I have traction issues at times running the K04 and you're BT so yeah, you need more sticky. Problem is at that 235/40/18 size and without looking at drag radials your stuck looking at road racing tires which are stickier than the NT-05's but don't have the sidewall flex that drag radials have. If I were in your position rather than spending over $200 per tire for the Nitto NT-01, get some cheaper sticky road race tires that will give you almost the same grip as the NT-01's but for half the price. Your going to burn through any tire you get in a season anyways so why not save the $100 per tire? 595 RS-R Racing - OnlineTires.com I know you can't compare treadwear ratings between different brands but it's interesting to look at what you get for the money: NT-01 for $210 ea @100UTOG vs the Federal 595 RS-R's are $121 ea @140 UTOG |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Suspension would be my biggest concern, tires will just cover up what the suspension lacks, the problem in FWD is weight transfer, all the weight shifts off the driving tires when you mat it, so until you get that under control especially in a high hp application like yours, you are going to have problems. Maybe run as stiff of a spring as possible in the rear? Or even helper bags in the rear springs? We had to do this in my firebird as well as put limiters on the front to stop the car from traveling upwards and instead make the inertia move forward sooner, it make like a 3/10ths difference just by limiting travel upwards. But experimentation is needed regardless on this platform, if eibach would make drag springs for the rear of this car that were solid, I'd bet we would have numerous 3's pushing 10's, tires are only 50% of the equation.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I don't. Just the cheapest, stickiest tire I could find on the web in the 235/40/18 size the OP is running. Being in SoCal I would be fine running sticky tires year round but not enough tread life for me as I'm more of a cheap ass when it comes down to making compromises. My next set after my NT05's wear out soon will probably be the MAXXIS MA-Z1 Victra in the 235/40/18 size. Can get these for around $100 ea and should hopefully perform close to the NT-05's but at $50 cheaper per tire. Maxxis is a Taiwanese company who have been in the game for over 40 years. I may be cheap but I won't compramize on safety. I have found tires comparable to my NT-05's and these MAXXIS MA-Z1 Victra for below $90 ea but I gotta draw the line somewhere. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Ratings, reviews and specifications for Nitto NT-01 tires $195 each shipped from Discount Tire Direct. That's where I got mine. I had these in 245/45-17 and they still spun in 3rd, but not as violently. I had them at 20psi.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Thats were I bought mine, but had to stay with 235's since the 245's on 18's were $50 more a tire. They came in yesterday and im getting them mounting tomorrow. I am also at like 440whp uncorrect at this altitude... so im about 60-70whp less then you had... hopefully that will help me out.

I ran NT-01's last season for time trials and cold I was able to get them to spin some in second. I could only imagine what a BT MS3 would do. Once they had heat though they stuck. EDIT: For what it's worth, mine were still gripping well up until I corded them. | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score ^ Would have been nice if he got to compare RS3s to NT01s. Especially on their ability to handle heat which for road racing is really the biggest factor on the MS3. I run the RS3s at -2.0 camber in the front at about 35 psi hot but on 9.5" rims and they hold up better than the NT05s I had before.

the evo V12's are 280 and i could do a full 1st gear burnout for as long as i kept my foot on the pedal. at mason-dixon i was on the DWS's which are 540 and i was barely able to get them to spin. i had identical 60's of 1.71 and 1.72 respectively for both tires. from what i have been reading online the mustang/vette owners really like them for street tires and said they hook up decent so thats why i was asking.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I've had the Conti DW mounted for about a year now. They handle very well and grip decently at the 400-415WHP range. However, anything more than this and they're going to slip like crazy. I'll enjoy these for another 10,000 miles or so. By that time, I'll have more fuel, better suspension, and will need some sticky sticky. In the end, I think they'e a pretty great daily driver tire for the money.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I dont have experiance with the DW, but i have the DWS on my car now. Granted i am not much over stock power levels. any kind of hard acceleration in 1st and 2nd with traction crontrol off is just a giant burnout. With traction control on 1st is still pretty worthless but 2nd i at least get decent forward motion, more of just a chripping than a straight up burnout.

| Not Ranked : 0 score if money is no object.....I ran the Yoko Advan A048s and they are a sticky as fuck..TW of 65 BUT $308 each...lol They are DOT approved road racing rubber just a hare below R. I am on NT-05 now and meh they are fairly good but I can rip them lose at will 1-3rd. 4th holds good but not before I tapered my boost onset. Bringing boost on ASAP broke them lose in 4th on occasion. I am looking at running NT-01s in the front as their price point is between 05 and A048s. I like the looks of those R compound tires listed here as a $100 option.

| Not Ranked : 0 score fuck, i guess i should just be glad i bought and MS6 and not an MS3 hahaha the hoosiers are $213 shipped and the conti DW like $125 so theres a significant price difference. my biggest constraint is weight, the contis are 20lbs, hoosiers 18lbs, and the next lightest DR (BFG/hankook/ect.) is like 23lbs. the wheels i just bought are 10 lbs lighter per corner then stock so im trying to be as critical as possible with weight (esp because the tire is the farthest out from the hub which will have the largest effect on unspung weight)

| Not Ranked : 0 score Car did great but unfortunately the Nitto's didn't fit. I'm going to get the fenders rolled to see if that will allow it to work. The drop in turbo and turbo back exhaust though added WAY more hp than previous so I was overall really happy with how the car did. I'm going to post a separate thread for the track videos.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Gonna bump this as search hasn't given me much. For those that have ran NT01 in autocross, what tire pressures do you recommend? I run 40psi on my Bridgestone S-04 and they don't roll over too much, I want to have a good ball park to work with without having to trial and error too much. Not enough runs and they are only counting first 3 runs for competition use.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Finally got the fenders rolled and had my first track day with the NT-01's. Here is video to give you an idea of their handling capability. I apologize ahead of time for the shitty camera angle, didn't think the rear view mirror would take up as much space as it did. All of the mods are listed in the description of the YouTube video so you can find more information there about my setup. Only had one time where the car lost control, right around the 12 minute mark. Other than that these tires handled everything I threw at them.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Correct. Wheels: 18 x 8.5, 45 offset TSW Nurburgring Matte Gunmetal Tires: 245/40/18 Nitto NT-01 Alignment was about -2.2 rear and -1.9 front Also, if you ever run Nurburgring's at the track, make sure and take your center caps out before going. The heat completely warped the plastic inside the center cap and caused all four to come out during one session lol.

| Not Ranked : 0 score best bang for your buck on traction in my opinion is firestone firehawk indy 500, the new style. they are rebranded re0003 from eu market. got some awesome reviews, decided to try them and i am not disappointed at all. i do not have the power you do nor do i track the car. may be worth at least taking a look at. price is also very good! tire rack is the cheapest i found.
