Default Big Turbo Check list

Ok so I am new to this big turbo so go easy on me lol My goals are a Daily Driver around 380whp, I am going to be running stock motor and want a GT3076r

Current Mods:
-HPS Cold Air Intake
-Corksport Downpipe
-Custom Mid Pipe
-Forge v2 BPV
-Cobb AP
-CXracing FMIC

Big Turbo Check list:
-CP-E Fuel Pump
-ATP GT3071r
-CP-E 4" Inlet Pipe
-CNT Catback Exhaust
-CNT Catted Downpipe
-Steepspeed Manifold or DNP Manifold (Depends on funds)
-CP-E Injector Seals
-Denzo 1 step colder plugs
-MBC
-COBB SRI

now I understand that the ATP Bolt On Turbo comes with all the coolant and oil lines that you need

I'm pretty sure thats what most people run with a bt setup. I cant speak cuz I haven't gone bt but if my shitty k04 goes out I'm going to go bt.

I'd add injector seals to that list as well, along with ITV22's. My advice, just go look at some of the bt builds to see what the common mods are that others are running.

I just ordered new spark plugs, good point with the injector seals I almost forgot.

Anything else I'm missing?

I'm not sure what comes in ATP's "kit" with the 3076, but getting the list from their tech guys fucking sucked. You will either need to buy a bolt with a very low profile head to get the oil feed banjo bolt on, and you may need some random 5/8" high temp hose for extending coolant lines...Not sure if you have to modify your oil return line, but I needed the hose for that as well.

You need some 3/16" silicone hose to run to the wastegate, and some T-Taps for your boost source.

You need to buy/have something fabbed for a screamer pipe from the wastegate, or get a custom downpipe made.

I believe SteedSpeed makes a manifold with EWG, though it may not be listed on their website.

I would get all new studs/nuts for your manifold and downpipe to turbo connections (9 total). Again, not sure if ATP includes.

Your intake will probably still work with the TIP after all is said and done, but I'm not 100% sure on that, I had to switch to a SRI.

You need about 4" more additional piping for your hotpipe, you can buy some silicone thats the same size as your FMIC piping and a joiner, then connect that to the reducer you are already using. (Outlet for the turbo sits lower)

I would recommend getting some sort of MBC, they're pretty cheap and its a lot easier to control boost than using the ECU.

I think that's it. There may be a few more MS3 specific things I don't know about.

^^^ Yeah, basically.

The ATP "bolt-on" turbo has proven to be only 90% bolt-on. There is a lot of tweaking you have to do if you want everything to fit perfectly.

Yes, Steed makes a stock flange/EWG manifold.

Don't forget about penis... You need lots of penis.

But seriously... If you're going to do an ATP turbo, you're going to need to do some extra work to convert it to EWG, and I don't think that it's worth the effort and the extra money in my opinion. For the money you're going to pay for that, you could have a proper t3/vband setup and probably still save money.

Just my 2 cents

True, should have mentioned that. In order to convert an ATP turbo to EWG, you have to weld the the IWG flapper shut. The main difference between staying bolt-on (with EWG) and going t3 is you need a different downpipe and oil feed. Everything else is about the same.

Ok so I have been doing some more research and I am probably going to go with the GT3071r and use the IWG, I will have it ported some where in southern California and be using it with either the DNP Manifold(To save money) or the Steepspeed depending on the funds.

I will also probably switch my Downpipe from the catless corksport to a CNT Catted downpipe to prevent boost creep/spike.

So my last question is if I order the oil lines and coolant lines from ATP would I have to do any custom fabs to make it work or should it just bolt up? I think I read on Lenny's BT fever that he ended up cutting it down a little to make it work.

I'm almost positive you use both the stock oil feed and coolant lines with an ATP turbo.

You have to extend one of the coolant lines, but you do reuse the stock hard lines. You have to bend one of them though.

Can an extended coolant line be purchased from ATP?

I'm sure you can buy one from them, but I'd just go out an buy something like this - Hose Barbs: Hose Mender.

I don't remember the exact size that you're going to need, but once you get that part, you'll need the coolant line. Then it's a simple matter of joining and clamping. Stainless lines are nice, but it gets pricey real quick.

So this in sense is just to link two lines together to create an extension with an additional coolant line? ? or is it to extend it slightly with just that one piece?

I don't know your plans, but Driver 311 is running this housing with a 3076.

Check out the description @ the bottom.

All Mazda flanges etc. are maintained.

Just another option.

Externally Wastgated Turbine Housing for Mazdspeed 3 - GT3071R/GT3076R : atpturbo.com

Oh, and if you want a 3076, don't buy a 3071... J/K, but you made a typo in your op.

So for this set up I would be able to purchase any GT3076r turbo? or could I use the ATP mzr turbo and run ewg?

Also would I have to make a dump tube for the ewg?

And u don't need to buy a bolt, just take the one off the hotside that lines up w oil feed and grind it down. It is very easy if u remember to do it before mounting the turbo.
