Default High RPM Big Turbo

Im rebuilding my engine and will be running 7000-7500rpm with garrett 3076. Was wondering if there was something that would stop me from this, anything i missed? On the money i have and work getting done 8000rpm was no go, Yes it can be done if i throw another $10000 at it. But since anything can be done with money thrown at it, what can we get on a minimal standard rebuild budget?

heres a list of stuff i have-

3076
custom made mani ( 2xs racing mani and 3076 )
fmic ( 2xs racing )
forged pistons (cpe)
forged rods (cpe)
race balanced
race bearings
eibach valve springs
DCR VVT
TBE
SRI,TIP ( corksports,cpe )
cpe fuel pump
cpe flash
cpe standback
Spec 3 clutch kit
Fidenza fly wheel
Turbosmart eboost controler
Stronger valve retainers

Rebuild done by mpsgarage

Unless you got a line on some serious fuel system upgrades, your going to have issues with the DI at 8000rpm...

Best of luck to you. Maybe you'll open up this option to others if you can work all the problems with the VVT and fueling with bumping up the revs.

Not achievable without cams. Plain and simple. What im researching, Is a custom cam and spec, and of course have them acknowledge and confrim the extra cam lobe and spec, needed for the hpfp. im sure any of them would do it for about $800.00- $1,000.

either by Crosworth, HPE, Brian Crower. Im going to also try local machine shops.
Oh yeah, check the spec on those forged rods. if the stroke is different. you could even loose rev's.

Yup you'll need cams, and I would get the cylinder head done as well, since you are doing that. You could port the chambers intake and exhaust ports. A serdi valve job wouldn't hurt either.I just tested a cylinder head. Our factory springs are good up to 7700rpm. I wouldn't pass 7500 just to be safe. If you want cams. I'd PM 06Speed6 he is selling custom cams.

Yes, the 7300/7400 mark is what the engine will stop at. As the bottom end is lighter with forged rods/pistons balanced, the stroke is still long and even if i had the best bottom end bits ( which i have not got ) 7600+ is pushing it. Been told the top end will flow to 7300 with out to much problem as its only 400rpm off standard. With what i have done from the info people have given me 'should' be ok.. ( hope )

I wouldn't hope. Murphy was a mother fucker. Its better to prepare than being sorry latter, besides if I was that deep into the build I would make sure that the engine will support all my mods.

It sucks to stop the car too long, but by expiriece is the best choice. Shit as right now my MS3 will not see the new long block till Christmast.

Spoke with dustin about this today but you could always increase your rev limiter gradually with the AP. I would want a saftey net of some upgraded springs and retainers.

the mtr is long stroke yo! honda that way---------------->
The DISI motors has 1.66 Rod Ratio. Thats means is very good for high rpms but you will need to upgrade valve springs and maybe retainers. I believe theres no cams on the market for high rpms.

Like I said, the DISI motors has 1.66 Rod Ratio, thats means is very good for high rpms also has a better rod ratio than ITR. I don't think that the DI would be a problem maybe the spring of the HPFP, I don't know if it will hold for high rpms. The only thing I need to check is the dwell cycle.

Good luck. Makes me want to buy another Speed3.

You just want to be better than Col, don't you?

My FMIC kit and custom turbo manifold

What you should do is buy the cosworth cams, take them and your cams to a shop that does cam regrinds and get your stock cams reground to the cosworth specs. Our cams have crap on them for the fuel pump the cosworth cams don't have. Sell the cosworth cams after, but keep the regrind specs from the shop and share them with us so no one has to do this again.

Without cams your going to be making like 100 hp at 8000 rpm

Our VE peaks at 4000 rpm stock, you'd actually be better off with the regular mazda3's cam grind which peaks at about 5k.

This is one reason it's hard to make huge power on this motor even with a big turbo, our VE falls off fast above 5k with the stock cams.

P.S. check for piston valve interference before you start it, those cams might need pistons with valve cut outs.
