| Not Ranked : 0 score People have blown with minimal mods People are running 400 whp on stock internals, fully bolted + big turbo The engine is so picky that it depends more on how you drive it + how good your tune is than your level of modifications You can run a lot, but probably not on a DD + stock turbo edit: it depends on what kinda torque you want and where - 300 wtq @ 2000 rpm is going to blow a lot sooner than 300 wtq @ 3000 rpm Last edited by Speed3eak; 02-20-2011 at 02:23 PM. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score 'Cause building ain't cheap! Sure, replacing a motor is expensive too, but if as long as he doesn't drive it like he stole it, no problem. Punching it at over 3k rpm is your friend. No more than half throttle below that.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Ill respond because of your Avatar, those rednose Staffordshire terriers are very awesome dogs, but if you plan to come to msf alot more, feel free to donate and be a VIP member. There really is no #..like its been said before, people have blown with very few mods. from 2007-early 09, alot of people were blowing, now its pretty dam rare, least interms of feedback im seeing on the internet. I believe people are becoming "wiser" and getting fuel pump upgrades and proper tunes to go with all that extra power, and THAT is what is helping alot. So heres my 2 cents, once you start going semi heavy modding wise=fully bolted, or bigtime=bigturbo..your taking that "chance" that your engine might say fuck you. With a solid parts&tune, that threat goes down but is alwasy still there. IMHO..I would say for daily driver 400 whp max..Iam more scared of tq myself..I think a 400 whp/350wtq is easier on the rods in this long stroke 4 banger, than say a 350 whp/400wtq. Our rods and pistons are forged, pistons will hold out pretty good..rods..meh..their ok..but are kinda thin, so who knows. We got alot of guys running big turbo now and doing fine, but we will just have to see. When I see someone making 350-450 whp for 50-100k...hundreds of wot pulls, then that will tell me seriously how strong the motor is.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I personally have been in the 360-400wtq range for roughly a year. So far so good. Of course a good tune is key.

| Not Ranked : 0 score That's why I'm being cautious. I'm worried about the tune more than anything because there aren't a lot of tuners around here. I found one that has modded a couple Gen1's but I'd be his first Gen2. |
