Default Mazdafreak Built & Top Mounted 35r Build

Well i guess i can finally make a build thread. Like title says, doing a top mounted 35r build.

Will be at the shop this or early next week to get the downpipe, dump tube and 4'' intake made. Will probably make a custom double pumper in the tank to feed the secondary rail. Havent decided yet.

Motor is already broken in at about 1000 miles, so tuning will begin as soon as exhaust is all mocked and welded up.

11:1CR bottom end

Freek Ported head w/ supertech valve spring/retainers

JMF PI w/ FIC 1100 injectors
John russell Top mount EM
BB GT3582r .82 t3, vband ((May send out get get the HTA82 wheel upgrade too))

Trz trans mount

CPE Injector Seals
Yellowspeed Drag Coils will be ordered soon.

Car will be on 100% E85 at all times.

Will be getting that Freektune also once all complete!

ALso removed the whole rearend and got it all sandblasted and powdercoated. No more rust cause previous owner drove it in winter here in chicago. My car hasnt seen winter since i owned it.

I am so going to do all my suspension parts. I didn't even think about it. It looks so much cleaner! Previous owner of my car did the same thing.

Ohh its def cleaner, no rust, i replaced all the bolts, new rsb, new sway bar links. I may need to replace the bushings on the control arm cause from the heat. kinda messed it up. but for now gonna get the car running.



Next ill be dropping the front subframe and get done also, since its all rusty looking too. Gonna be so clean after im done.

I recommond you coating everything afterwards with this if you plan to drive it in winter still, like two cans is good enough for rear-end. Doesnt drip either. puts a nice coating over it.

Funny how a bunch of his exhaust mani's are showing up yet he's still banned. I just picked up the one that derek was selling. I'm pumped to see the final figment. Yours T3 too?

Thanks for the reading material. I don't drive the car in the winter, have a beater for that. Can't decide if I want it to just be something subtle or if I want it to be bright like my engine haha. I never even thought about getting it done. my rear end looks like ass. I noticed it when I put on my new rsb too.

Haha yeah. Guess he only sells on Facebook. It fits exactly how it should, just the intake is gonna be funn to make, comes so close to the brake resivior, couldn't even fit a 90 degree angle coupler cut all the way down.

Haha, idk. I was thinking different color than black, but I knew it's get rly dirty and said forget it. Only cost me $260 for whole rear end coated. But new bolts were $140 + jbr rsb+ new hubs and then I just did new rotors and pads while I was at it.


And I sprayed that stuff just incase. But it looks beautiful under the car now and bolts come out easily. Just need to do the front after car is running.

Definitely going to have to do that to my underside when I replace the diff mounts. Looks good man, good luck with the build.

What's the expected spool time on your 35r. On my old car was starting boost around 4500

What u mean cans? Like with the rust prevent shit? I just used one. Makes it look like someone cummed under my car now. But gives a nice layer tho over the powdercoat.

Borrowed my buddies trailer and towed this bitch to R&D performance here in IL, good guy I know, big in dsm/evos to mock/weld up the exhaust and dump tube.





actually had to weld a vband onto my hotside, I picked the hotside up used, was on a 35r, but the flange I think is diesel. So it was smaller or some shit and we couldn't find a flange at all to use

@rfinkle2; no rush on the tune. I still need injectors and weld maf flange on and shit. So gonna be a lil bit. And I go on vacation in 2 weeks for 2 weeks haha.

I bought the tune for that discount price! So no rush. And whenever u send basemap, I'll try and send logs when I can. Just a heads up for ya. So I'll be slacking on logs for awhile haha.



But car is back at my house and gonna make the return lines etc and get everything ready for tuning hopefully soon enough.

That's just polish. No compound at all. Because the paint is rly soft and clearcoat is thin, don't need to go too aggressive..... I use a flex3401 for polishing and my griots garage 6" w/ meguires backing plate for compound ((use meguires cutting pads, best ever)).

I have S3 gold and m105 compound......CG blacklight, merz4500 & m205 polishes along with lake county foam pads. (White, black, blue, yellow)

Bump!

I'm back from vacation and back at it! Started mocking stuff up, need valve cover welded up along with the bung. And gonna get the maf flange welded on intake once I kno exactly where I need it to go. Got return line and coolant lines hook up/made.

This looks amazing! Love the pink turbo! ! What is this manifold? I live in England and really want a top mount turbo on my car but I cannot find these anywhere!
Is this as good as the steed speed one? (Which they have stopped making )

One of my buddies made it for me lol..... Steedspeed were actually not very good and flowed badly. AFI sells the top mount manifolds. Usually like a 1-2 month wait tho unless they have any in stock.

Probably when they first came out sure. Till new stuff was developed, steedspeed wasn't as good lol.

Only the stock and tilted placement manis had crap flow. The top mount ones flow just fine.

It's to control the extra 4 injectors I'll be running. Tell it when to spray fuel. It's like a Cobb ap, but you just tune the injectors to kick on/off.


If I had the money I would have done the hta wheel upgrade.

Well got everything mocked up. Now just waiting for my guy to weld some stuff. Should be able to turn her over next week! Had to make my own lil piping to make the Cobb fmic work.





Need to to weld in ~2" of pipe and adjust the pipes to make it work without hacking my Cobb fmic up
