Default A New Big Turbo Build Coming

Ok so im finally undating this thread but this is the set up on my 08 MS3 GT I started with:
Corcksport TIP/SRI
Corksport DP
Striaght piped from the DP back
Cobb Lowering springs
Autotech HPFP internals
1 step cooler plugs
CX Racing FMIC kit
Turbosmart Dual Port BOV
Cobb AP on a tweaked stage 2++ map
and a few other little things

Now this is the new set up
GT3076 EWG kit
BC Coilovers
JBR camber arms
JBR trilogy mount set (rmm and passenger installed so far)
CP-E Injector Seals
Grimspeed 3 Port EBCS
STI V-Limited front lip (ended up taking off)
Treadstone TR11 Core
Cobb EBCS-EWG fitting kit
HTP 3.5" full intake
EVO X wheels
BBS RK 18x8.5 (nothing special for now)

So heres the pics but first let me say this. After studying plenty of builds and issue people had I expected the install to have a hang up or 2 but this install was freakishly simple. Nothing... not a thing went wrong, didnt fit, or was even hard to fit except the intake. That thing is massive and getting it on the inlet is a little difficult. My oil feed banjo went in just fine. The bolt that people usually have to grind down was no where near my feed banjo. I can see where some people say the oil return feed is too long but for me I had no issue of it kinking or even getting it on. People said the had to use tricks and rubber bands to get the gaskets on the oil line flanges to stay but me and my buddy tag teamed it. I lined it up from the bottom he held it from the top and i screwed it in. After about 6 hours from jacks up to jacks down the swap was done. I didnt even take out my DP. Not one drop of oil or coolant leaked, no funky issues, or problems as far as the install. One issue was the coupler ATP supplies that goes from the turbo to the IC piping. Its sized for the stock top mount I guess so it didnt fit my 2.5" piping for my FMIC. I had to get a 2"-2.5" 45 degree coupler from treadstone and everything is good. On my end being the noob that I am I hooked my boost source from the turbo in to the top half of the EWG instead of the bottom so my first run on the turbo was at full boost so 32psi by 4k rpms. Went home and eventually figured it out. Stayed out of boost until I was sure I fixed it. Felt like a retard for that but heres the pics

Day one started with simple things. swapped FMICs. Straight forward. I unbolted the crash bar to make it fit but after 2 days of my front end slopping around I was able to fit the crash bar over the new FMIC.

I was being lazy about swapping the turbo until my friend calls one night at 1130 saying he needs my stock turbo. Then after I say yeah you can have it after i swap he says hes on the way so at 1am we started swapping the turbo.

Test fitting everything because I also saw where people had to remove or modify the stock turbo bracket. For some reason I didnt have to touch it and the turbo just sits perfectly on it. I was also prepared to extend the coolant lines for the turbo but I guess ATP fixed that as well because I had more than enough to properly connect them and they were the right size.

This is pretty much how the turbo sits now. The WG dump sits perfectly at the level of the fram of the car right in front of the firewall. It sits close to these 2 hard lines on the firewall but no contact or disruption cause. you can also see the nipple on the WG front and center in this picture should not be there. It should be on the lower half and that was my rookie noob mistake I paid for later.

Here you can see it on the left side of the WG. DONT DO THAT.

And here again a pretty good pic of what not to do with that boost source lol. JP and I had a little conversation about if the CS DP would work with this EWG set up and no one knew at that time but as you can see it works just fine. Plenty of space.

You can see here how the oil return couldnt possibly fit if it was any longer. It would kink and squeeze shut on the inside which equals no bueno but I checked and check and check to make sure it was good and the way its situated it will not kink at all.

and final product. I didnt take many pics because I was busy under the car and using my phone for light plus theres a bunch of great how toos out there so I did what i could.

The other random stuff is straight forward so not much to explain but heres more pics.

and greetings from some of NATOR Carolina

heres some test videos on 13 psi. Says 15 but it was peaking around 13.

Heres a run at the track. Think it was a 13.7 but i ranged from 13.7-14.0 with horrible launches. still on 13 psi.

Cruising the streets

And my first Map from Lex other than the startup map. 21psi

Then random cruising.

And then the TR11

yeah, 400 should be no problem with that list. Go luck with the build man.

You should put a sticker on your roof rack that says "hella functional" since you'll be using it.

Anyway, looks like a solid parts list. I'm not a fan of short shifters or shift plates, but that's personal preference. I notice you have an MBC *and* an EBCS listed...gotta pick one, haha. As for manifold, if you have the cash, Full Race is baller status.

Also, I don't have personal experience with this, but F&R sway bars are overkill in most cases unless you're truly going to set your car up for racing. For one, the front bar is a huge pain in the ass to install, and it also negates a lot of the effect of a rear bar...so you're left with not as much oversteer as you wanted. My opinion, just do a rear bar.

Thanks for the advice. I bought the MBC when I was planning on going with a iwg and I heard that was one of the best ways to deal with the boost creep but changed my mind and spend the extra money on the EWG kit and bought the ebcs and that's what I'll be using. I've also been going back and forth of manifold choices and full race is pretty much the best bang for buck product I've seen.

Or you can go in a different and easier direction using @Lex;'s new Boost Dial. Replaces MBC and EBCS. Lex has a thread about it in the Stratified Automotive section.

And you might want to pick up his Guardian Angel as well to avoid overboost situations

I was planning in the guardian angel as well. I was on the stratified site seeing what my tuning options were and I saw that. I still have 3 more months to buy stuff and research so I appreciate all the input.

S one more question. I hear people are having problems with the supplied oil/water fittings with the ATP kit ranging from the banjo not clearing the bolt right there with out shaving it down some, to oil return lines being to long and the water lines being to short. I ordered the SSP oil feed lines and about 4 feet of 3/8th coolant line. Does anyone suggest and thing else that works as a good replacement for the stock lines and fits pretty easy with the new turbo. Just want to make sure I order everything I need other than having to tear the car down and running around store to store getting stuff.

I installed the same turbo, about 2 months ago, and i think atp fix everything, the only problem i had was with the oil return line, it made contact with the waste gate and could not sealed properly, got a 45 degree -10an elbow and it fix the problem. You should be good with the waste gate elbow.

Im in Kosovo with my SC national guard unit (218th MEB) under USAREU. Easy money. A few grenades here and there and some AK fire but aint Iraq.

Im trying to get everything I need to have so I can come home, see moms, pick up my stuff, load the car up and probably a few friends cars(I have a lot of parts) go to my house and get this build under way. Thanks. I've spent about 6 hours dissecting your build thread alone lol. I dont want to build a monster but I want enough power to make people scratch their heads. Only fast cars in the Charlotte area are the overnight built boosted civics that come to meets running race gas for one night before they blow up, a few porches, and 3 or 4 built EVOs and STIs. Maybe a handful of big power muscle guys. None of them has seen a big turbo MS3/6. 400whp and im good then I need to find a awd or rwd project car.

Hopefully, my build thread helped. :-)

It did. The only thing I was worried about was the oil fittings. I've taken my stock turbo out twice so I know the process of taking everything out and not getting coolant in your face. Just haven't seen how tight the lines would be with a BT so looking yours and the steps you took helped.

Well Guys good news and bad new. I was taking my time installing things until last night when a couple of friends called and said they bought a bunch of new tools and want to put the turbo in. Well I say ok cool. Install went beautifully. Took about 6 hours, no leaks, no cracks, or breaks. Go to crank it and turns over and runs for maybe 2 seconds and dies. Though maybe I have my vacuum lines run wrong on the wastegate. Check them and no they are run the way I want them. Then I checked a few other ways to run them just to make sure. Swapped them around about 3 different ways and still the same thing. I dont smell fuel and check my fuses and everything checks out but its almost like its not getting fuels but it almost wants to keep running. Any ideas. My only idea is the MAF cal is so off that it wont run with the new 3.5 HTP intake. Working on a map as im typing this. Looking for some help guys.

Nevrmind guys. False alarm. I finally loaded my map from Alex at stratified and it cranks right up. Still amazed that I did this in the middle of the night and the install was so smooth. Gotta thank cld12pk2go for his help and Lex for the quick help. Pics will be uploaded after I do one more final check and take it out of the garage.

So far the set up is running great. Just uploaded some pics to the first post and a few videos but im just starting to really tune right now. on 21psi and its quick but not fast yet. Enough to beat my friends that were neck and neck with my old set up so its coming along.
