It's funny, because I was going to update this thread tonight. I just received my package from @EdgeAutosport.com;

I had to order the manifold and down pipe gasket. I also went ahead and got a new set of Denso ITV22 spark plugs.

Nothing has gone smooth since this whole upgrade started, but it should be coming together very soon.

The bolts on that side were not tightened properly and the heat of the escaping gases burnt that gasket.

I will be sure to double and triple check this time around, but I'm sure it was tightened well when I installed the manifold.

If they were loose, there were zero signs of a leak.

Ouch man, sorry to hear that you're having such issues.
When I grabbed my turbo kit, I also ordered new gaskets. Figgured I might have needed them since the ones I had were the originals.

My install was a pain as well... but I guess I was a little more prepared for it lol.

My latest issue was my charge pipe blowing off at 23psi of boost, but that's fixed now... at least until I get my latest tune revision from Alex at Stratified.

To be honest, the power band is higher with the gtx3071r than it was with the k04.. but doesn't kick in as soon.
It used to be, go to 3k rpms. Punch it, instant boost. Then fall on face.
Now it's go to 3k rpm, Punch it... wait... wait, BAM! Insaine boost and it holds further up in the rpm's.

But since I'm in the middle of tuning, I try not to get too crazy unless asked to be by Alex lol.

Had some time to work on the car yesterday. Here is a list of what got done.....
-Turbo is bolted to the manifold
-Down pipe is bolted to turbo
-Oil feed line is bolted to turbo (banjo bolt took a bit to get lined up)
-Oil return line
-Primary EGR
-Coolant feed and return
-Coolant bypass
-Throttle body TIG

After working a 12 hour shift I grabbed a Monster energy drink and worked on the car for a few.

Intake is completely installed.

I do have a question. I deleted my primary EGR. There are 2 plugs on the harness that plugs into the EGR.

One goes to the EGR and will not be used, so where does the other plug go?

That entire harness is under the intake, so I hope I don't need it. Haha

the gray plug is egr.

the smaller black plug is the factory boost controller, which you'll need.
it's what you plug your ebcs into.

-Car cranked over on the 1st try. Thanks @Justin@Freektune; for the kick ass base Map. Now to get some miles on the car and get you those logs.
-Thanks to @smoogs12; for your help with the coolant questions.
-Car idled for about an hour, no leaks
-Those 2 plugs I mentioned are not plugged in anywhere. I will deal with that when the time comes.
-Drove the car 1.9 miles, only went to 3200rpms, 3psi of boost

Here is the only issue I need to figure out. When I installed the Turbo the Wastegate Actuator was touching the firewall. Now when I drive the car ONLY from 1st gear I hear a rubbing type sound inside the car. I'm assuming it's that.

Any help or feedback will be appreciated.

I helped install the same turbo on a friend's car and he had the same rubbing issue. It went away after the actuator rubbed completely through the firewall, haha. No problems though.

how did you hook up your electronic boost controller without using the black factory boost controller plug?

you have to use that plug...

it's how the car reads and controls the boost

i just saw you're using an aem true boost.
to be honest, i don't know anything about those and how they hook up.
so maybe it's different for you.

Yes. ..AEM does not have a source to plug any type of electrical component into it. It's all done with boost source. Im not a pro, but that's how it was hooked up before and got tuned.

That's why it was weird when I saw the 2 plugs just hanging there.

ahhh.

this is how my 3 port ebcs is hooked up.

you can see i had to plug into the factory plug in order for me to control my boost.

Still on Base Map, but popped a coupler while getting into boost.

Coupler fixed. Went to do some logging and car feels like it's hitting boost cut.

AP shows boost psi...


Waiting for results from @Justin@Freektune; about those logs.

I don't think a base map would allow you to hit 30psi... mine only allowed me to hit 15ish.
You might want to check out your connections for your wastegate and boost controller.

That 30psi spike is probably why you're feeling boost cut.
It could be maxing out.

I would just putt around until you hear back from your tuner.
Don't need any rods pulling ejecto seato's on you.

+1 For a wastegate issue/ebcs issue. I hooked mine up full retard and was getting 30psi by the time I could lift at part throttle.

DO NOT GO WOT until you get that shit dialed in.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Don't need this thing blowing up on my anytime soon.

I'm going to stay away from WOT for sure. All the connections up top look good. I have to make my way underneath the car to make sure all the connections down there all still hooked up.

did the car FEEL fast as shit before the cut? if it didnt feel fast, and you are hitting 30psi on the ap, are u running a stock map sensor? if so it may have been overlooked and has a 3 bar map calibration which is why u keep hitting cut and the car doesnt feel like its retarded fast. i didnt catch if u put map sensor info in the thread at all

I would recheck the wastegate actuator hitting on the firewall. That could be causing it to bind. Without looking at it is there anyway to adjust it so it clears the firewall?

Car pulled like hell once it got into boost. Actually spun the tires. 3 bar map is installed, but im not sure if a 3 bar map calibration has been done ( I doubt it, but no clue).

I'm going to reinspect the 3 bar map sensor as well. I know that area was tight as hell and it was a bitch to install.

Well the sound of the actuator hitting the firewall is gone now. Lol.

Conveniently right after doing some WOT logs.

Seriously though, I need to get under thr car and look at all that.

Here is how these went.....

Datalog 1 - Idle for 5-10 seconds
Datalog 2 - Slow 2nd gear with no boost
Datalog 3 & 4 - 3rd gear 2500-6500 WOT

I haven't looked any any of the logs, so I do not know how the car is performing.

Any feedback is always greatly appreciated.
