Ok, I know this probably wont be a popular thing on here because so many people have had great luck with them, but I have to throw this out there. Ive been less that impressed with my working with Edgeautosports. This is me in no way bashing Edge, just telling my experience.

Little back story: I blew my stock turbo and wanted to replace it with BT. A few emails and PMs back and forth with the guys there eventually got me what I needed. I tried to express that I was in a hurry, but some responses to significantly longer than others. Some they got back to me within an hour, others I had to send multiple messages. Just figured they were busy, nothing I couldn’t deal with.

I get my parts in and of course Im wicked excited. Ordered a GT3071, 4”-3.5” coupler for my intake, and a 4” tbolt clamp to mount it to the turbo. I noticed right away the 4” clamp was actually a 3.5 and wasn’t going to work. They said they would send order me a new one, and a call tag I could just sent the one back. Kinda sucked because I wouldn’t get it in time for the build that weekend, but a hose clamp will work in the time being. Again, nothing I couldn’t deal with, just kinda sucked.

Saturday/Sunday rolls around and I have the turbo in, everything is getting finished up and I find out they sent me a 4-3” coupler, not a 4-3.5” like I asked for. I cant call them up because they are at MNM and its Sunday. Run to autozone and see what they can do. They can get me one by Tuesday morning, I have no choice to but to order it. At this point Im getting annoyed, 2 wrong parts, and my only car is now out for 2 days and I have to bum rides to work and back.

Tuseday, I get my coupler in and get the car all back together. Email them as and ask what I should do about the coupler, they say send it back with the clamp and they will refund me. I ask if my other clamp has shipped, and they tell me that they were waiting for me to send mine back. I was under the impression they were sending me a new one with stuff to ship the old one back, but now I have to ship it back on my own dime and wait more. All very disappointing but I can deal.

Today I get an email after shipping it all back telling me they cant refund me for the coupler (that I now don’t even own). Now Im pissed. They did refund me for the shipping back of the items, which was good, but Im basically out $20 now. I know its not a lot of money, but its more the fact that they messed up (twice) and didn’t make it right. It’s a principle thing, and from a company that I have heard such good things from, Im disappointed.

I did everything I could was patient as possible, and tried to let everything slide. This last little bit really did it for me though. They messed up and wouldn’t fix it. Don’t care if it was $20 or $2000, that’s enough for me to say Im done.

Anyway, that’s my rant. Take it as you will

TL;DR: Edge autosports screwed up a couple times and now lost a future customer.


Update: Just got off the phone with JP. He apologized up and down about all the confusion and in the end made it right. I do appreciated that. It sucked that it had to come to me making a thread about it, but in the end its all sorted out.

It does stand out that they would call me and do everything to make it right. I have no plans for any more parts at the moment (and no more money). But when I do, I will make sure to keep edge in mind.

I like JP and Alan very much as people. Met them @ MNM and they were awesome to hang out with and I think they have great intentions.

That being said, I have had a few hiccups as well, and think JP is contemplating hiring another person.

I hope JP and Alan work the kinks out because they both are great people, maybe just getting so popular they need another person.

They seemed like nice guys, but yeah I think they need some extra help. At one point when I didnt get an answer to an email for a day, I decided to call. Figured that would be better for them. Got no answer and a message saying their voice mail was full.

I have learned some things in my extensive history of automotive enthusiasm.

1) Nothing will ever be as quick and easy as you think and have been told.

2) I have no idea why, but it is inherent that the majority of your encounters involving the exchange of money and car parts will be annoying and time-consuming.

3) Large orders will almost never be correct due to the different number of manufacturers that have to collaborate with one another to send you a package wrapped up all nice and pretty.

4) MOST if not all vendors will make it right. If they don't, there's something amiss.


Having said all this... see all that shit in my sig under the Saturn? I haven't received 1/2 of it and I ordered it over 4 months ago, but I also have been receiving little things here and there to keep me from driving the hell to their shop and screaming at the first person I see.

Have you spoken with Edge regarding your concerns? I find it hard to believe they outright denied you the peace of mind knowing they made it right. Make them give you something! It works wonders for your give-a-shit.

My experience has always been great with edge, but it does seen like they could use another guy to keep things moving when they are on the road.

That said, once my order is placed the part always shows up quick!

There are a couple people in Nator AZ who've been disappointed. I think they've grown a lot, and need to make sure that their resources can keep up with the demand. Gotta be great at the basics, customer quality, delivering the right parts, and shipping as quick as possible.

I haven't ordered from them in a long time...for the fact I'm pretty much where I want to be. But back when they first started up when it was just the gay duo, things were good.

Edge now is the time where you gotta continue to stay on top of the game please. Take a step back and create new goals and visions of the company and tackle it.

Yeah, Ive tried getting it all sorted out. They said they could only refund me $10 (about the cost of the shipping) and not refund me for the coupler. I told them I was disapointed and that to just do what they could/would and then I can just be done with it.

Im just sick of the hassle, and $10 more dollars its not enough money to keep fighting for. Like I said though, its a principle thing

Yeah, the stuff got here quick, but only about 25% was correct.

Hi @maisonvi; I apologize for the bad experience. I can't express enough that we aren't here based on bad business principles. I care about our customers more than anything else. We also have 120 back ordered Autotechs. That causes us exponentially more voicemails, emails, PMs, and website messages. It's not easy when Autotech delays an ETA 3 times in a row either.

I'd like to know how I can make you a customer again. We're here to help. We leave here EVERY day knowing we did our best. Sometimes, that is not satisfactory, I'm the first to admit that.

I don't like to handle issues on the forum. We're better at doing it in person. For some reason, I don't have your phone number. I will email you to get it and personally address the situation with you since we haven't talked (I don't think).

By the way, I thought we were refunding for all items purchased through us. Maybe I was confused about that. If that's not the case, I'll definitely refund. You don't NOT get refunded for parts you return that were bought through us.

Just another note from an outside perspective is that I know you were in a rush and all but it would have been better that once you got all the parts for your BT setup to go over it all and make a checklist of the items you needed.
That way you would have caught the two parts that were not right and then not torn your car apart to find you didn't have the parts to finish.

I'm glad Edge is making things right with you but also just make a phone call next time. I know most the people on the forums are nerds and won't call and just email but sometimes just making a phone call can clear things up easily.

I did make a phone call. I got a voice mail full message. I understand I was in a hurry, but it wasnt a crazy hurry. Probably 2.5 weeks from when I started asking for a quote?

And I dont think I would have noticed the coupler unless I decided to try and put the intake on the turbo outside of the car. it looked right and I figured it was right.

I'm glad worked out. I was there when trying to get things in and it was frustrating to not have everything.

I'll have several things to order in the near future to build my engine as well as BT parts (hopefully).
