Default NEW! DOC Race Exhaust Manifold




Please join me in welcoming the DOC Race Exhaust Manifold to the Mazdaspeed Platform!





The DOC Race turbo exhaust manifold is a perfect way to compliment your factory style turbo setup. Whether you are still on a factory turbocharger and want more efficiency or you're needing to pair a bigger turbo with a stock style flange with a higher flowing manifold than stock, this is a great way to do it.





Constructed of schedule 40 stainless steel tubing and hand crafted, beautiful TIG welds, this manifold will hold up to any turbo you put on the end of it and will help flow as much exhaust gas to it as quickly and efficiently as possible. Thick flanges come standard so all angles are covered in order to make this a quality, well built turbo manifold.





The DOC Race Exhaust Manifold is $795 and includes shipping to the Continental US.

What are the selling points of this manifold over, say, $650 for the Boost Junkyz manifod?

Don't get me wrong, it looks great, but $145 is $145...

I don't really know anything about the Boost Junkyz manifold so I couldn't really say. I couldn't even find it on their website. It does looks like a good manifold, though from the pictures I suspect the DOC Race will have a little more clearance with FMIC piping.

So I guess to answer your question, I'd say accessibility would be a plus for the DOC Race over the Boost Junkyz. We have them in stock ready to ship. You can buy it directly from our website and we are here to answer any questions you may have.

my BJ manifold..to get them you have to email him directly and yea the doc race mani will have a little more fmic clearance if its anything like fullrace over the BJ manifold

Will this work with stock TMIC or other TMIC? Or is FMIC required? (I know. anyone upgrading the exhaust manifold, has probably upgraded the intercooler long ago. Just wondering.)

FWIW, the list price I saw on BoostJunkies is currently $725 (reduced from $849). So your $795-10% sale is a bit less expensive ATM.

@EdgeAutosport.com; Tubular ex manifolds are notorious for cracking when used on our platform. I think that's a pretty well known issue.

This ex mani doesn't look to have any type of support bracing or anything like that, so what's the warranty on these if they crack welds/metal a year or two down the road?

TBH - these look like the tubular ex mani Ken @ protegegarage.com came out with years ago, which ended up with lots of guys having cracked manis, myself included.

This has very similar design to the Full Race Manifold dimensionally and I know for a fact the Full Race will work with the TMIC. No one that I know of is running this one with TMIC though so I can't say for sure. I am 95% sure it will though.

The problem with all of the old manifolds including PG's was that they used thinner metal to cut cost. With thicker tubing and flanges, you get a much stronger product. We've been selling Full Race manifolds for a couple years now and haven't had one crack on us (that I know of). They are tubular too without any extra support built in. The DOC Race manifold is made with the same material thicknesses as the Full Race so I don't think there will be any issues with this one either. I am checking on the warranty info for you as I believe it is a one year warranty against cracking and the like. But don't worry, if it proves to be an issue, we will stop carrying it.

EDIT: The DOC Race Mani has a two year warranty.

Its somewhat difficult to tell from the pic but it looks like you will have trouble fitting a TMIC with the BJ Manifold too.

I notice there are no cuts between the runners (I'm assuming to allow for expansion as the mani heats up). Some other ex mani choices (CP-E, FullRace) have these cuts; DOC Race does not. Any insight as to why they were omitted?

I can't answer that. I assume that DOC Race didn't feel they were necessary. I'll see if I can find out though.

Here are some pictures on the car. To make the job easier unhooked the RMM and PMM to "rock" that MZR out of the way. Routed the 02 sensor wire behind the foil heat shield against the firewall for extra piece of mind. My GTX spools a lot quicker with this piece. Changed the exhaust note just a tad. Liking it so far. Thanks again to Edge.

One thing I forgot to mention is that the nuts provided with the manifold don't fit on the two holes close to the firewall on the turbo flange. I had to use my old ones with a separate washer in that location. There is not enough clearance to get the nut with the "built in washer" there.

I ended up using the original ones that came with the ATP GTX Turbo kit for the install. Black with a separate washer.

Full race is 1.25" and DOC Race is 1.38" ID. Haven't checked cp-e yet...

Edit: cp-e's is 1.6" ID

That is a very big difference and will likely be a big difference in top end exhaust flow. I could see the FullRace choking out some of the BTs people are running these days.

It comes down to torque vs horse power.

Smaller ID = increased velocity which will spool the turbo faster. Larger ID will give you more flow on the top end which will increase horse power.

No one has confirmed it with the DOC Race yet, but based on its dimensions compared to the Full Race, it should fit no problem.
