Default Jumping onto the E85 train

Going to buy upgraded HPFP internals this month. Is there anything I need to know other than what I've read. Sea foaming it once or twice to get all the gunk out. Is there tuning help here for full E85? Anything I need other than internals

Some more reading. A gallon or two, is not gonna need a tune. Anything more will.
If you're looking for a guide on how to tune it yourself, then the info exist, search.
There's precautions you can do to avoid the sticky death. If you dont know what that is, go read.
As far as needing to change anything else, nope. Just the hpfp.

Don't use Rotella and you should be fine. I've been running it for 3 years on Pennzoil Platinum and I've never needed to clean it. If you hear a quick squeak on a cold start, that'd be normal.

Not sure what oil has to do with e85. I live close enough to E85 that I will be running full E85. Wasn't sure there was a vast amount of tuning help here on the forums. Or that it is as easy as upgraded HPFP internals to run e85.

There is a whole thread about it, start reading there.

Your "not sure what oil has to do with e85" shows how little you understand about it.

Like said above, go read.
Running e85 is as easy as swapping the pump. Tho how long that works for is what you should be asking, or how to prevent the sticky death. Tho thats all covered here already, go read.

Additionally the tuning info is here as well. You could literally make a map, go fill up with corn, flash to that map and you would be good to start tuning today.

I'll spoon feed you a little bit, just so that you don't pop your motor.

1. You can run an E85 mix on stock internals, but upgraded ones are a better idea.

2. In order to take advantage of E, you need a tune that accounts for it. Without one, you're not going to get much of a benefit at all.

3. The pump is lubricated by oil. If you use the wrong oil, it will interact with the E85 and cause the pump to operate inefficiently and/or get gummed up.

4. If you intend to run a heavy E85 mix or pure E85 then you probably ought to be looking at some higher-end HPFP internals that are properly chemically-treated.

5. Read the fuck up. You've got a lot to learn.

Not enough. If you read and comprehended *most* of what *I've* written, you'd know that I boiled E85 on a hotplate while trying to identify where the sticky and black deaths come from (if you even know what those are) and that they only appeared when oil was present.

Ah, since you only read "most" of what was written, you must have missed the tons of posts talking about full e85 working this platform.

Or did you just read the first page/last page, and then decide to ask your already answered question?

Full E85 sounds nice, but without PI I wouldn't want it. Too much hassle to have less power.

Going to jump on the E train too, 50/50 mix or so. From the other threads, looks like Pennzoil Plantium or Royal Purple Dexos is the way to go.

Does it make more sense to get the Euro blend PP that comes in 5w40? Still on the K04 @ 60,000 miles, dont have an oil restrictor bolt in and the T6 has been saving me for now (or so I was lead to believe when "T6, T6, T6" was pounded into my Brownie ass many moons ago)- so I'm hesitant to switch off the heavier weight oil. Need my K04 to last another year or two before thinking about BT.

A) RP 5w-30 Dexos
B) PP 5w-30 (also dexos??)
C) PP 5w-40 euro blend
D) A or B and order oil restrictor bolt?

If you can get your hands on legit Euro oil, you should try out the Shell Helix Ultra; that's supposedly Dexos too.

Otherwise, you're pretty much fine on 50/50 and T6 so long as you don't go over ~E45 or so.

Ha, well going E85 and pushing it harder isn't exactly going to help your cause, but then again it could fail staying stock. Might as well live a little.

To my knowledge pus don't need an oil restriction bolt. When Rich and I began tuning, one of the first things he did was bump my idle.

Unfortunately there is no Shell Helix Ultra - I just saw the Euro blend PP 5w-40 on Amazon /w prime shipping. I guess its a possibility I could start using it and then they stop offering it.

Are you using 5w-30 PP CWP? Its my understanding that also is a dexos blend (so it might be preforming for you just as well as the purple stuff for the other guys?).

I'm on RP Dexos. Shell Helix oil does exist, just not in the states.

Yup, I run Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 and change it every 2500-3000 miles (max) even though it generally looks half way decent at that mileage. It begins to smell a little like fuel so I opt to swap it out sooner than most.
