Default E85 in a Ecoboost Flex? YES!

I copied dj's fueling system and it worked!


I finished the install of the auxiliary fuel system this week. I've been chasing wiring gremlins but finally got it working correctly yesterday.
Details on the fuel system:
Walbro 255 pump, Magnafuel boost referenced FPR feeding 6x40lb injectors and a 1 gallon fuel cell.
50/50 E85/E10 91 octane in the main tank with E85 in the auxiliary 1 gallon tank.
I've installed a 3 bar map when we changed out the intake as well.
Torrie and I have been doing tune/log revisions and the car keeps getting faster and faster, Torrie feels there a ton more to be gotten out of the car now.
I can no longer floor it in first gear from a stop, the car just overpowers the stock tires...
Once we get the tune dialed in for this setup I am going to get a dyno done, then install the NEW TURBOS which I pick up this week. I plan to have a dyno done after the turbos are installed with no tuning changes to see the difference in boost.
BTW, it's 106+++ right now in Phoenix so we're doing all this when it's hot as heck out, if the car can survive this then when it's cold it should just be CRAZY.
Looks like I'll be needing to pick up some new tires soon....

Just a side note, the car can handle part throttle boosting via it's own fuel system with the E85 mix, it's only at WOT that the car has to close the throttle blade as it goes lean. This platform is very smart about saving itself from lean conditions. 10 years ago I would have blown 3 motors with the fueling issues I've been having as I sorted through the wiring/fueling gremlins this week.

Car is MUCH faster than this video now, I'll do a 0-60 and 1/4 mile pull with Torque once we're done with tuning revisions

Great job on this project! I think you're only like the 3rd person running a secondary fuel cell for the extra injectors too, and obviously the first Flex I've ever seen modded this extensively.

There are no mods for our DI system yet, the stock fuel system will handle up to about 75% throttle and then can't keep up. I'm spraying at 23% duty cycle on 40lb injectors with a base 50psi of fuel pressure right now. I may end up dropping base fuel pressure to force a higher duty cycle on the injectors eventually. We'll see where everything lines up once the new upgraded stock turbos are installed.

BTW, the ECU on this car is SMART! Car is constantly in closed loop and shoots for a commanded AFR, as I spray the auxiliary system it removes fuel from the stock fueling system automagically to hit the .78 lambda we're commanding. If the car see's the car going lean via AFR OR fuel pressure it closes the throttle to compensate. I'm pretty sure I would have popped the motor many times this week if it weren't for the intelligence of this car.

I'm on mobile, but I'll watch the videos later. good shit man, glad to see you went through with it and it's working well.

When you say you overpower the tires, are you spinning all 4? That's sick. Haha. That ECU sounds pretty slick too.

No, the car is basically FWD and when it spins it throws power to the rears. If it puts too much power to the rear it closes the throttle body and opens the wastegate to remove all power and save the AWD system. If it does that it noses down then waits 2-3 seconds and then goes full tilt again.

Next mod after the new turbos are installed will have to be an EBC with a gear or MPH based boost level. I'm going to have to figure a way to reduce the boost in first so I can get traction and not have that happen.
