Last summer, I was at 188,000 all original miles on my 2007 Speed3. It was mostly stock, other than CAI, HPFP internals, and some self-tuning using Cobb ATR. I decided to live dangerously and upgraded to a BNRs3v2. I added a test pipe to make sure it could breathe OK, replaced the RMM, and figured I'd add what more I needed later. Thus began my tuning with Stratified.
Alex was great to work with - he was not stingy at all with the revisions. If he was a bit late with a new map, he was quick to add days to the tuning window.
During the process, it became clear that I could get enough airflow, so I added the 3.5" ETS TMIC, which made a huge difference. Then, somewhat later, we were having difficulty getting the boost much above 20PSI. Alex recommended the Synapse DV, and immediately I was holding boost much better. From there, we started adding the E85, and things really opened up!
Then, in November, I got beyond the grip strength of my clutch, which had about 154k on it. Alex was very patient to wait while I did my clutch swap, and did a few things to make sure my tranny was ready for the next round. I didn't get it back together until almost Christmas. Then, I could feel my replacement clutch slipping! That was not a happy moment - but I apparently must have had a hint of oil on the clutch or pressure plate, because after 1,600 miles, it was now holding perfectly! We then worked to finalize the tune.
My car is now running better than I had imagined! I had been hoping for 330-350 whp - we hit my goals and then some! But of course now I am developing new goals. :-) Currently at 210,650 miles, and running very strong! Thanks, Alex! |
