GTX3076r tuned by Justin

For those who are curious about the kind of work Justin is capable of, it's nothing short of amazing. The precision and efficiency he has with each revision is second to none. He was completely understanding and helpful with all of my questions and concerns. I even ran into a hardware issue which did not allow me to tune for about a month and Justin was extremely patient during this time. My 2010 speed3 just hit 60k miles with a stock motor and clutch and I can't say it's ever been this fast. We tuned for reliability and drive ability and I can say Justin hit this mark with ease. There's still so much room left for power but we felt that the 380 mark was a great place to call it a day so I wouldn't have to worry about spending money on a new clutch or worrying about having to build the motor right away. On a side note, Justin has also tuned one of my closest friend's speed who currently holds the 1/4 mile record for the mazdaspeed platform and to me that speaks volumes. For those of you who want a fun daily driver like me, or for those who are interested in setting records like my good friend Bryce, Justin can do it all. Thank you Mr. Brasil.

So you digging the 3076 as a daily? How does it feel when you're not revving it out?

@Smelson; keeps nudging me away from the BNR and towards the 3076. 380HP with room to grow sounds pretty awesome.

Mind listing your build?

The 3076 really only spools a couple hundred rpm slower than the BNR. It's hardly noticeable and anything over 3500 is instant boost on the 3076. I enjoyed the hell out of that turbo.

I love this turbo as a daily. To be honest when I drive the car I just putt around conservatively and it feels just fine, but to give you an example, yesterday this asshole tried cutting me off when a 2 lane merged into a single lane. He caught me in 3rd and I just lit him up lmfao. He probably flipped his shit when the waste gate cracked :)

In regards to my build: UR FMIC TBE HTP 3.5 Relentless customs PNP IM 38 mm tial EWG 50 mm tial QR BPV JBR TIGS OCC coolant bypass egr block off & trilogy mounts. Next on the list is hopefully a bigger intake and new exhaust manifold by Justin with an ACT upgraded clutch. Then when I can a motor built by Justin.

Ewg Gtx3076 (or equivalent) has been my goal for a while just wasn't sure about having it on a high mileage stock block so I put it on the back burner. This thread has given me more direction than I've had these past few weeks searching and reading.

It really comes down to what your plans are with the car. I would be lying if I said I wasn't looking at other cars about a year ago but once my friend picked up an evo x and the more I checked out STIs I really lost interest in getting either one, not to mention they're very expensive for what you get. Now that I have my car looking and driving the way I want, there really isn't much else I would go for (within a reasonable price range of course). Once the motor starts to go, which it will at some point (hopefully later than sooner), I will go for what's probably now considered a conservative 450-500hp goal which should be perfect with this turbo.

Almost an exact month later I have a used gtx3076/ewg on the way. I'm looking to have it installed by January, depending on how quickly I collect the remaining supporting mods.

What is the QR BPV? I'm just looking for something purely functional (will hold boost) and reliable. The prices on these things are all over the place.

msantana101 11-17-2014 06:32 PM

The QR BPV is made by tial if that is what you're asking. I'm sure a turbosmart or forge BPV will do the job just fine and are much cheaper. I just wanted something flashy for my ricey ways lol.

I'll also chime in and say the GTx3076 is a fantastic turbo. Having previously owned a GT3071 and GTx3576 i would preach the GT(x)3071 was hands down the best turbo for this platform ... until i got the chance to tune a GTx3076 and i was blown away. It truly is a sweet driving and responsive turbo, and we obviously have seen what it can do in the hands of a capable tuner. Its a good turbo.

Yup. I think I'll be dropping the BNRS3 for this sometime over the winter. You can hit 400 with AUX fueling, but it just isn't the same LOL

Ya the BNR will hit that number and then the power will start to fall off. Where the gtx will hit it and either hold it until red line or keep making more depending on how far you want to push it, and of course your fueling setup

msantana101 11-20-2014 03:09 PM

I really need to buy a freek built motor...

My MS3 is a DD. @Justin@Freektune; is tuning my GTX3076R right now. Justin has done 2 other tunes for me in the past and I am sticking with him.

As a DD the 3076 is great, responsive, and I am NEVER late to work.

I never want a conservative tune. I always want a BALLS OUT in your face just before I blow my shit up V8 destroying, yet safe tune, and that's what Justin has given me every time!

mrboostman 02-17-2016 11:03 AM

Justin tuned my 165K 08 Speed 3 fully bolted and a bolt on ATP GTX3076R to 379WHP/382TQ
Makes the power easy but is laggy. Any RPM below 3500 and the turbo is basically sleeping. I am fine with that because I love the mid range and up top power.

Are you still on the stock block?

mrboostman 02-17-2016 04:07 PM

I bought it pre owned with 150k. Now has 163K on the stock block with the BT installed.

The 3076 really comes to life above 3500-3800rpms. Anything below that and you are below the surge line of if the compressor
